Germany {post #1}
June 09, 2010
Okay I am finally posting these. I have been putting off editing some of them. We had a blast in Germany. Thanks Bryan and Jenny. I never knew it would be so beautiful. I always associated the war and the Jews and Hitler with Germany, but let me tell you I was happy to see it differently. The country was so beautiful. There were so many castles and so much history everywhere. It was amazing. To be in the homes of Kings and Queens, where princesses and knights once walked was surreal. The gardens were straight out of a Jane Austin novel. So you will have to bear with me through all of the pictures, because if you know me, (which you should if you are reading this blog) I took A LOT of pictures. It was too beautiful not to. I will have to post in more than one post, so here is the first bit.
The train ride from the Airport to the Frankfurt main train station.
One of the streets we walked almost daily.
The lobby of our hotel. Yes the chairs look like turtles upsidedown. It was a modern hotel.
This is the bathroom in our room. There was absolutely no privacy in the room. Even the wall to the toilet had a glass design so you could see inside. :) This was actually the first room they put us in. Chris went to wash his hands and water poured all over the floor because the sink wasn't hooked up. So they moved us next door. The room was the same, but I was a little dissappointed that it didn't have a tub like the first. Oh well. Not like I had any time to have a bath. :)
These weird looking trees were all over. They cut them down this way so they didn't takeover everything. Apparently they look better in the summer. I thought they looked a little creepy.
This is Dom Romer. (the o in Romer had the two dots above it but I have no idea how to type that)
This is the Square where they burned the books during Hitler's time. He actually came out on this balcony.
This is on the double decker bus tour on the first day. Bad idea. We all were so tired we fell asleep. The red is from the canopy over the top because it was cold and rainy.
On top of the Main Tower building overlooking the city.
View of the train station from the tower.
Other views. I was playing with the new panorama feature on my camera.
The park out front of our Hotel. And yes that is my Sexy hubby.
Our hotel. Roomers.
This is in Minz (don't remember how to spell it) :) Yes that is Bryan poking his head in my picture. You will find him a lot. He likes to play where's Bryan(waldo)
The Gutenberg museum. We took a lot of pictures before we realized you weren't supposed to. Sorry I can't read German :)
The really old, original bibles.
I thought these were pretty nifty. I thought they would be great photo props :)
One of the many parks around.
Okay well that is Post 1 for the Germany Trip. Come back for some more. . .

Wow! Looks amazing!
Germany is NOTHING like I imagined it would be. In my mind, it's a gray, dreary place. But it looks gorgeous!
Looks like you guys had lots of fun. Someday I might travel to other places besides Utah, Colorado and Wyoming.
