Brrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!! Yellowstone in the Winter!

March 09, 2010

In January Brad and Kolleen to Chris and I to Yellowstone for a couple of days. It was awesome. Freezing, but awesome. We rented two snowmobiles and rode behind a guide into the park to Old Faithful. When we first entered the park it was so cold I really thought I was getting frostbite. It was foggy and SOOOOOOO cold. But once we got to Old Faithful it started to warm up a bit. The snowmobiles we had were luxury for a snowmobile. They had two seats which both had heated seats and hand warmers. :) It was so beautiful. I wish I could have stopped more to take more pictures, but you had to stop only when the guide did. But we would have been all day and into the night if we would have stopped as much as I wanted to. ;) These are some pictures from my camera and from Kolleen's. This is a very long post which you should expect from me right. If you don't then you shouldn't be reading this blog :)
On the way into the park. We were stopped for some sight seeing, but I had to change gloves because my hands were frozen.
The frost on the trees in the mornings there was just amazing.
These were some of the tour coaches that drove through the park. Some of them were huge and they were all on tracks.

Crazy frozen tree.
Bison
At Old Faithful.
Boys will be boys!!! Right :)

Yes that is MY man!!!
Finally I match a snowmobile!
The fellas pulling out a girl that didn't know how to turn very well on a snowmobile and let of the gas :)
These birds were all over. When we would park the snowmobiles the guides would warn you to take all your stuff with you because these fellas would unzip and still anything they could find.
Antique coach.
My handsome model. :*
Yellowstone always amazes me. The things you see there are weird and stinky. This water was so clear and blue. Looked like the water in the Bahamas. (not that I have ever been to the Bahamas) What was crazy was being there in the winter with all of the hot springs around. Made it really steamy. Old Faithful was crazy. You couldn't really see a whole lot of the water. Just steam.

These Elk were quite a ways away, but I had my Zoom lens. So I shot through the trees.
Thank you to Brad and Kolleen for taking us. It was so much fun. We love you. And thank you to Mark and Camille who watched our kids again. (((((hugs)))))

I am glad that you guys had fun in Yellowstone, it is a fun place to be. I got the cd with the pictures yesterday. I am so excited for all the pictures and yes there are lots for me to use for the picture frames so they don't have to be sideways anymore. Thanks a lot, love ya lots.
